Net Promoter Score (NPS) is calculated using a simple formula based on customer responses to the question: "How likely are you to recommend us to a friend or colleague?" on a scale of 0-10.
The NPS Formula
NPS = % Promoters - % Detractors
- 😊Promoters (9-10): Loyal customers who will recommend you
- 😐Passives (7-8): Satisfied but not enthusiastic customers
- 😞Detractors (0-6): Unhappy customers who may damage your brand
Note: Passives are not included in the NPS calculation, but they count toward the total number of respondents.
Example Calculation
If you surveyed 100 customers and received:
- 60 Promoters (scores 9-10)
- 20 Passives (scores 7-8)
- 20 Detractors (scores 0-6)
